Door entry and access control can easily be incorporated into a smart home setup. From a simple doorbell push button to a video intercom and motorised locks.

At the more basic end a doorbell push button can be added as a digital input which could activate a doorbell sound through your home audio system and send a push notification to your phone.

Moving up a level and you could have the elegantly designed Loxone Intercom, This device enables two-way audio and video communication, allowing you to see and speak to anyone at your door from the convenience of your smartphone or a dedicated intercom screen inside your house. In addition to this the Intercom has a built in motion sensor which can be used to bring on porch lights and also captures an image as soon as someone pushes the call button.

If you want to add an electronic lock into the mix this can be controlled through the Loxone app and also via a Loxone keypad that has been designed to sit directly underneath the Intercom giving the appearance of one slim and stylish door access control panel. Keypads allow authorised individuals to enter a secure code for access, eliminating the need for traditional keys and providing a flexible, secure entry method. Home owners have access code management at their fingertips and it is quick and easy to add/delete codes and to assign temporary single use codes or codes only valid on a specific date/time on the app.

These entry controls can equally be used for vehicle and pedestrian gates and garage doors.

The data and programming of your smart home system including your passwords and assigned access codes are stored locally in your Miniserver and never in a data cloud this makes a Loxone system much safer from potential hacks.
