Zoned Lighting

Open-plan living spaces are popular because they feel flexible, spacious, and modern. However, they can be difficult to light well.

Different areas often need different lighting at different times. For example, you may need bright task lighting for cooking. You may also want softer lighting for entertaining or relaxing. Zoned lighting solves this problem by giving each area its own lighting control. It helps your open-plan space work better throughout the day.

However, traditional lighting can create too many switches. This can make the system confusing, inefficient, and harder to use.

East To Use Interface

Loxone’s ‘Standard’ interface gives you simple and consistent control in every room. This makes the system easy to use.

You do not need to learn different controls for each space. Instead, the same clear approach works throughout your home.

You can also manage your lighting through the Loxone app. From your smartphone, you can add, remove, or edit your own lighting scenes.

Motion Sensors

As the motion sensors also detect ambient light, your internal lighting can be programed to automatically adjust dependent on natural daylight conditions. With the addition of either RGBW or variable white light fittings, this Daylight Responsive Lighting can also adjust the colour temperature throughout the day, leading to a healthier living and working environment.

Daylight Response

Loxone ceiling-mounted motion sensors can make your lighting more useful. They can trigger different lighting scenes at different times of the day.

For example, the kitchen can have bright task lighting during meal preparation. In the evening, the living area can switch to softer ambient lighting.

This smart home automation helps your lighting adapt to your lifestyle. It works quietly in the background, making your home easier to use.

Advanced Lighting Features

Transform your home with intelligent, custom lighting

In addition to the smart feature above, Loxone offers advanced lighting solutions like RGBW Spots and LED strips, which can transform the mood of your living space with a dynamic range of colours and brightness levels. These lighting options allow you to customise the ambiance to suit different activities and preferences, from vibrant, colourful settings for parties to calm, warm tones for relaxation.

Loxone’s lighting control integrates seamlessly with other smart home features, such as shading and music, to create a cohesive and harmonious living environment. For example, as you dim the lights for a movie night, the system can simultaneously lower the shades and play your favourite soundtrack, enhancing the overall experience.

Loxone can also integrate with DALI light fittings allowing each light to be selected and controlled independently and giving superior dimming performance. The use of DALI protocol gets the best performance out of higher spec ‘architectual’ downlights, giving a softer glare free light.

With smarthome lighting your switches are not directly connected to your lights. Instead they act as inputs into the miniserver (the brains of the smarthome). Your lighting circuits are connected to various ‘Extensions’ which are controlled by the minisever. These could be simple relay extensions for basic on/off control or various other extensions for dimming and colour control. With the inclusion of other ‘inputs’ from motion sensors or door contacts. The miniserver can then decide (through programming) what lighting scenes to activate depending on what input is triggered whilst also considering the time of day and current ambient light levels.

Because your switches are separated from your lights and the control is through logic and programming, any light switch (or input) in your house can control any light.
For example, the switch by the front door could be programmed to turn off all lights in the house.
Opening your back door at night could trigger the garden lights.
If you stagger down to the fridge at 2am your motion sensors would trigger a low light level to guide you.
Your home office could be setup with Daylight responsive lighting helping your circadian rhythms and improving wellbeing.
If you go away on holiday your lights can be set to roughly copy your usual routines therefore making the home look like it’s still occupied.
The power of smarthome lighting is its flexibility meaning that once setup your lighting should just happen, and always be at the right brightness for the time of day.
Absolutely not. Although Loxone do sell some elegant pendants and 24v downlights, a Loxone system is compatible with any light fitting on the market.
So, if you want to control a standard 230v bulb then Loxone’s ‘dimmer extension’ can handle this with Phase dimming, for Led strips Loxone’s RGBW dimmer uses pulse width modulation to control both multi colour led’s and white only.
If you’re working to a more professional lighting design, Loxone can also handle DALI and DMX protocols.
Yes. Loxone has a retro-fit option that works wirelessly.  Small devices are installed behind light switches and in the ceiling above your lights, these communicate back to a wireless Miniserver called a Miniserver Go.
Loxone’s Touch switch also comes in a wireless version called a Touch Air.
